PELEE ART WORKS ~ Artistry Nurtured in Nature’s Masterpiece ~ www.peleeartworks.org Canada’s Southernmost Community Arts Centre is seeking an individual with a background or interest in the arts for the position of Manager. Full-time seasonal hours will be offered to the enthusiastic, community-minded applicant who is: - Confident in a retail setting and displaying artisan’s work - Able to hire, train, and delegate - Experienced in administration, event planning, and financials such as book keeping - Organized, and efficient in time management - Able to communicate effectively and work creatively with board members and the community - Creative in marketing, proficient in the use of online advertising and communication venues such as Facebook - Willing to commit to at least one season of employment (May through October) Pelee Art Works’ Manager is responsible for: - Opening and closing Art Works (excludes days off) - Providing exceptional customer service - Performing cash and credit transactions in the retail gallery - Hiring, training and supervising summer students - Organizing and/or running workshops for children and adults - Co-ordinating all aspects of artisan participation in the centre (artisan sales records, art displays, artisan payment, etc.) - Maintaining a clean and organized ambience inside the centre - Ensuring the outside of the centre is welcoming to customers and artisans (light grounds and building maintenance) Attending Art Works board meetings and providing the board with monthly status reports, as well as addressing concerns and providing ideas for the betterment of the centre Working creatively and co-operatively with volunteers, including training and scheduling Grant writing skills would be an asset to Art Works but are not necessary. This position pays $13.00 per hour and the successful applicant will receive two weeks paid training and orientation. Pelee Art Works opens May 1st. and closes in mid-October. The Manager will have Mondays and Tuesdays off, and will work 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sundays.
