Quality Control Leather Inspector Job Title: Quality Control Leather Inspector Reports To: Director, Raw Material Sourcing Location: Toronto, ON Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Employee Type: Full Time Salary: Negotiable Pillar Recruitment Group Inc. has just celebrated a very successful year and we are looking to continue our growth throughout 2008. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: • Coordinating with Leather Inventory Administrator to receive shipments of samples using Momentis system and updating files to reflect up to date inventor status • Processing samples received; labeling and file updates as well as coordinating sample release • Tracking and tracing leather production shipments and coordinating requirements for leather testing and inspection with leather inventory staff • Performing leather shipment inspections and conducting required leather tests to ensure Company’s quality standards are maintained. Compiling leather inspection reports and updating files • Coordinating skin releases; generating planned usage for each cutting order and computing the actual usage when orders are completed • Investigating irregularities of over and under consumption for each cutting order. Generating and updating skin consumption for each style using 4D system; evaluating and handling requests for extra skin from production • Maintaining production skin and sample library • Providing assistance for seasonal colour and article participation, special projects and leather development • Maintaining all paperwork and files in a time and accurate manner; keeping department files in good order • Performing other related duties and projects as assigned EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: • AT LEAST 18 months of Quality Control experience within the garment/apparel industry (not necessarily with leather) • Post secondary school diploma and related experience in leather inspection or quality control (preferred) QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS: • Proficient with the workings of MS Products (Excel, Word, Outlook etc) • High attention to detail with well developed organizational skills • Superior communication skills in oral and written English are essential for daily correspondence and reporting • Strong sense of urgency with the ability to execute quickly and efficiently • Demonstrated organizational, analytical and decision making skills with some accounting knowledge • Team oriented with the ability to flex in support of the work style, timelines and deliverables of team members • Ability and flexibility to multitask and prioritize in a fast paced environment • High level of energy and physical fitness to handle materials weighing on average 10kg on a consistent basis • Self starter with a strong work ethic and initiative • Ability to work with minimal supervision • Availability to travel (including outside Canada) and work additional hours as required to meet business demands • The position may also require travel to complete inspection so it is necessary to possess a valid passport (USA and Italy) Pillar Recruitment Group Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer and thanks all interested applicants, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
