Database Developer Our client located in the Toronto area, is currently in need of a Database Developer to develop application software components according to design specifications. The Database Developer will be required to tune and test developed components and integrate them into the system. Specific responsibilities will include analyzing, defining and documenting requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfacing with other systems, internal and external checks, controls and outputs. The incumbent will perform complex applications programming activities which includes coding, testing, debugging, documenting, maintaining and modifying complex applications programs. Additionally, the Database Developer will be required to assist the Business Analyst in performing investigation, analysis and evaluation to determine business requirements; the selected candidate will design, develop and maintain ETL specific code and will provide support in the implementation of processes within the QA and production environments. Requirements & Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this Database Developer opportunity possesses database design and reporting tools experience, expertise in SQL and experience working with large data sources, preferably DB2 and SQL server. Senior level knowledge and experience with ETL tools (Informatica) and knowledge and experience with software development is required to be successful in this role. The selected Database Developer will additionally possesses solid knowledge of design and analysis methodology and application development processes from both an industry and client perspective. Our client is looking for an individual that demonstrates a good understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle, possesses strong data profiling and UNIX skills and has the ability to implement a re-usable data-integration / ETL code in an enterprise data-warehouse environment. The ability to read and understand COBOL programs, copybooks and files is required for this role. Experience with sync sort, Maestro (TWS) and PVCS is also required. As a strong candidate for this role, you also have strong troubleshooting and communication skills combined with the ability to work well in a challenging environment.
