Job Type: 6-month contract

Job Summary

The Community Relations Assistant will report directly to the Regional Director of Marketing, Multi-Level Sites and indirectly to the Executive Directors at Iler Lodge, Blenheim Community Village and The Village, Ridgetown. S/he may be required to work the occasional evening and weekend, if needed.

Qualifications

• 1 - 3 years of experience and proven success in sales, customer service and event planning;
• Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
• Must have a high degree of interpersonal skill which would enable the incumbent to deal successfully with clients, community and healthcare contacts;
• Computer literacy and competency in Microsoft Office;
• Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
• Must be proactive and self-disciplined;
• Empathy for and an understanding of the needs of the elderly;
• Must demonstrate knowledge of marketing and selling concepts, processes and programs;
• Strong organizational and time management skills;
• Strong presentation skills;
• Ability to problem solve and provide supportive decision making;
• Fluency in English, both orally and written, is required;
• Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.

Key Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision, assists in coordinating the administrative activities of the sales department;
• Follows guidelines to answer routine internal and external customer enquiries;
• Maintains database of inquiries for easy follow-up with clients;
• May assist in conducting sales research;
• Participates in the implementation of hospital and community relations initiatives;
• Assists in the facilitation of the promotion of products / services across business units where appropriate, with main focus on retirement residences within the region;
• Attend regional meetings with sales employees;
• Assist with targeted initiatives for residences within region;
• Assist with the development, implementation and continuous improvement of an annual Community Event and Outreach Plan;
• Assists in the planning and implementation of marketing initiatives such as advertising, direct mail and community outreach;
• Remain abreast of competition within the region;
• Remain abreast of political, economic, demographic and other external factors affecting the market in an assigned territory;
• Develop and nurture community partnerships and contacts;
• Act as a community liaison on behalf of the residences;
• Coordinate local or regional cooperative functions, meetings, workshops, trade shows, conferences and special events which direct traffic back to the residences within the region;
• Completing required reports for the Executive Director and Senior Management;
• Identifying appropriate community media relations opportunities and implementing this coverage;
• Assists in implementing, monitoring and continuously improving a referral network and program;
• Assists in, and on occasion will be required to, complete tours of the residences to prospective clients;
• Able to provide onsite marketing and sales coverage to residences in absence of a Director of Marketing;
• Other duties as assigned.
