| Senior Mining Engineer Description: Reporting to the Director, Exploration, the Senior Mining Engineer is responsible for oversight, maintenance of technical standards, and engineering input to early stage and scoping stage projects, ensuring that the engineering performed and the project execution is implemented to follow the project execution strategies, plan, procedures and standards. This position also must ensure that standards meet the relevant industry and legal codes. The position works with a number of different groups including personnel from Vale Inco Exploration, Project Development, Business Planning, Business Improvement and various Engineering firms and consultants. Position Requirements: • A conceptual thinker and problem solver, strategic business sense • Ability to make independent judgments and resolve issues • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills (written and verbal) • Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage a variety of issues simultaneously within tight timeframes • Self motivated and a high level of energy to be successful in a dynamic project environment • Good non-authoritative leadership skills and able to operate in a team environment • Facilitative and investigative skills • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • The ability to visualize three-dimensional objects from two-dimensional drawings • The ability to be decisive • The adaptability required to apply themselves to a variety of work situations. • They should enjoy being innovative, doing work that requires precision, making decisions and supervising others. Educational/Experience Requirements: Ideal: A master's degree or doctorate in a related engineering discipline Minimum: A bachelor's degree in mining engineering or in a related engineering discipline is required. Ideal: 15 years with operating experience, familiar with underground and open pit mining Minimum: Minimum of 10 years experience in a project engineering role, familiar with typical technical specifications in all disciplines License/Professional Requirements: • Licensed Professional Engineer | |
