Position Summary:

Mainly perform all aspects of electrical engineering in relation to client consulting, feasibility studies, construction documents, and construction review of institutional, commercial and industrial design projects. The successful candidate will report directly to the Vice President of Engineering.

Responsibilities:
• Prepares designs and drawings for site facilities, and engineering systems.
• Meets assigned budgets and schedules for tasks.
• Responsible for identifying cost-effective solutions to design problems while remaining within the allocated budget.
• Liaises with the Clients, subconsultants and vendors to obtain project information and to discuss specific design related problems.
• Assists in creating and presenting technical reports in regards to the nature, status and results of design or study assignments.
• Requires the ability to recognize the implications of assigned work on the work of other disciplines, and ensures the necessary coordination occurs.
• Construction review activities, including site review of construction work progress

Qualifications:
• Intermediate position - Minimum 5 of 10 years experience in designing electrical systems Lighting, normal power, emergency power, power quality, security, fire alarm, CCTV, CATV, Data and Telephone, and various other systems, specifically related to commercial/institutional/industrial buildings, preferably in the consulting engineering industry.
• Senior position – More than 10 years experience in designing electrical systems Lighting, normal power, emergency power, power quality, security, fire alarm, CCTV, CATV, Data and Telephone, and various other systems specifically related to commercial/institutional/industrial buildings, preferably in the consulting engineering industry.
• A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or in a related engineering discipline.
• Licensed member of PEO (P. Eng.) (Mandatory for Senior Engineering position)
• Working with contractors and other consultants, and coordination of major projects.
• Skilled level knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, ESA and CSA standards required.
• Familiar with Canadian construction methods and practices.
• LEED Accreditation is considered an asset (and must be pursued once employed with Racon).
• Proficient in AutoCAD.

Additionally:
• Confident and able to relate with all levels of staff and clientele.
• Be able to facilitate inter-discipline coordination and cooperation.
• Able to provide leadership and motivation to project mechanical teams.
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplined team environment.
• Must be fully proficient in oral and written communication in the English language
