Applications Developer General Description: The Application Developer has two key areas of focus that include software programming and internal system administration/technical support. Software programming activities will vary according to client project parameters and may include database applications, data capture applications, security systems development etc. System administration and technical support responsibilities include the optimization of internal hardware and software systems, maintenance of the appropriate security protocols, responsibility for system back-up, data archiving and storage etc. The Application Developer will work with internal 5th Business personnel but will be required to interact with clients for specific project work from time to time. Duties: • Develop and implement software applications with a focus on web-based applications (including online databases, integration with client information systems, development of online security systems, development of data capture mechanisms, e-commerce applications, etc.) • Support ongoing development of Internet program as required, including various development projects and strategic thinking to advance the objectives of the company • Take responsibility for system administration to ensure data integrity through regular back-up routines, system and network administration and appropriate data storage systems • Identify and recommend opportunities to improve efficiencies/lower costs through technology • Provide technical support to internal personnel to ensure they are able to work with the technology tools that support their job with minimal down time or disruption. These tools include MS Office applications, ACT, Survey Pro, Bill Quick, etc. • Other duties as assigned Skills & Qualifications: • 2+ years experience in .NET application development • Ability to effectively develop software applications, including appropriate requirements gathering and development documentation • Proficient in a variety of programming techniques that include ASP.NET, VB.NET, C# and MS-SQL are hiring prerequisites • Working experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and MS SQL Server and familiar with Windows Server 2003 Operating System, Windows XP and Mac clients • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and follow up • Good verbal and written communication skills • Team player, yet able to work with little supervision • Demonstrated commitment to quality and client service • Goal oriented; able to follow through on assigned projects to completion Education & Experience: • A college or university degree; focus on programming and/or networking preferred Salary: $45,000 to $50,000 per annum.
