Payroll and Benefits Specialist

Description: Reporting to the Manager, Payroll & HRIS, the successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day operation of the Canadian and U.S. Ceridian payroll systems.

Education/
Experience:
The ideal candidate will combine a formal payroll and accounting education including CPA certification with 3-5 years of previous experience.

To be successful in this role, you will possess a complete understanding of payroll applications, strong organizational, time management and analytical skills and working knowledge of various computer software applications.

Responsibilities/ Requirements:
New hire and termination of employees according to the legislative requirements.
Completing and verifying all employee changes including salary increases, performance reviews, personal information and tax information changes.
Manual cheque calculation of payments required outside of the normal payroll processing period.
Administration of Garnishments, Family Support and Wage Attachments.
Administration of the Canadian and U.S. Time and Attendance systems.
Required to provide both scheduled and ad-hoc reports to various levels of management.
Maintaining confidential employee personnel files.
Responsible for communicating with Human Resources Consultants within the company, as well as some Government agencies.
Initiate enrollment on behalf of employees in the Sun Life
