| Assistant Store Manager JOB SUMMARY: With guidance and direction from the manager, performs a variety of duties and responsibilities related to the day-to-day operation of a retail store engaged in selling quality used and some new merchandise. Will assist with the supervision of all retail sales personnel, display; pricing of selected merchandise; cash handling; bank deposits; completion of inventory reports and a range of other administrative duties. Works closely with Human Resources, the Centre Leader and Store Manager in the training and assessment of REACH Employees. This “hands on” working position requires the ability to develop store clerks, deal effectively with customers, order goods and supplies and ensure that all established procedures are carried out according to SOPs and in an accident-free environment. Must possess the ability to handle full store operation in the absence of the manager. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: ·Provide assistance to the manager in the day-to-day operation of the store by effective display of available merchandise so as to achieve maximum revenue. Supervises or participates in the pricing of selected items or articles. ·Assist in training and developing of store personnel in all aspects of retail store work and directing and coordinating their daily activities. Assist with completion of performance reviews on staff. ·Assist in assessing the aptitudes and work habits of program participants, and provide verbal and/or written reports to participant and counsellor. Assist in Supervising their training related to individual program plans. ·Assist in supervision and assignment of work, to provide the best vocational development of employees within the Supportive/Transitional Employment Program. ·Assist in supporting and developing appropriate training and development plans and programs for reporting staff. ·Assist in ensuring that goods and salvage are returned in accordance with established policy. ·Assist in receiving and checking incoming stock, store markdowns and generally ensuring that Goodwill merchandising policies and procedures are closely followed. ·Assist in maintaining good housekeeping standards, and advising manager and/or Centre Leader of any repairs needed to premises. ·Along with manager is responsible for cash handling, bank deposits, and completion of all inventory information and other required paperwork. ·Deal effectively with customers; handle complaints promptly and endeavour to build a happy and productive team operation. ·Order goods and supplies when required, and ensure that all established procedures are carried out. ·Ensures that all employees are aware of and adhere to fire and safety policies; assist manager and/or district manager in conducting internal meetings or giving instructions. ·Sets a strong personal example by following all safety methods and procedures. ·Along with manager, available to cover store on evenings and weekends. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: ·Ability to move throughout the premises. ·Ability to stand, bend and reach repetitively as required. ·Ability to lift, push and pull a minimum of 40 lbs. ·Ability to grasp merchandise for scanning, packaging, organization and display. ·Moderate demands relating to the lifting, carrying and handling of products which is part of the merchandizing activities associated with retail store coverage responsibilities. ·Ability to operate cash register, count cash and complete reports ·Ability to visually distinguish methods of payment and follow appropriate procedures ·Demonstrates knowledge of Donor Value ·Maintains a clean and organized work area ·Follows safety procedures for handling material, stacking material and using equipment. ·High school education ·Several years responsible sales or business experience. ·Retail Management experience. ·Display & Merchandising experience. ·Cash register experience and good mathematical skills. ·A knowledge and understanding of current prices of clothing and miscellaneous merchandise. ·Excellent customer relation skills. ·Supervisory experience. ·Ability to lift 30-40 lbs. and stand, bend & stretch repetitively. ·Able to tolerate a dusty environment. ·Ability to work with and train individuals with employment barriers. | |
