AutoCAD/SolidWorks System Designer

We are currently looking for a System Designer in our Waterloo facility.

This is a 12 month contract, full-time position with potential for permanency. Compensation between $15-20/hour, to be determined based on experience.

Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess many or all of the following:
- Experience designing for the Manufacturing industry (or similar field)
- Experience with Steel and Sheet Metal construction
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD 2000 or higher (Min. 2 years experience)
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks 2007 or have completed certified SolidWorks training courses
- Ability to produce system layout drawings in standard Third Angle Projection
- Ability to produce Bills Of Material for all Project Systems, based on Layout Drawings
- Ability to perform Product Verification - hands on measurement/checking of custom components
- Ability to prepare As-Built Drawings of custom components
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (word/excel)

The ideal candidate will be:
- Detail Oriented – Standardization of Drawings and components
- Strong Organizational Skills - Ability to prioritize and multi-task complex projects over tight timelines
- Strong written/verbal communication skills and ability to decipher sketches, notes and photographs to create finished system layouts
- Independent worker, able to complete tasks for multiple jobs while waiting for customer specific project information or system drawing approvals

Responsibilities of System Designer

- Customer Service – Excellent communication skills are required for discussing projects with customers
- Project Follow Through – Contact with Purchasing and Shipping departments required to verify that all job components are included with every system
- Project and Company Standardization – Applying Company Standards and specific Project Standards to all project materials
- Parts Library Maintenance – Updating and adding new components to existing parts library, both in AutoCAD and SolidWorks; Backups of system and library components
