Distribution Manager

Our client, an award winning, established, family owned Mississauga, Ontario based wholesaler of fresh cut flowers, greens, plants, floral supplies and giftware, is seeking a Distribution Manager. If you have a proven track record of being an innovative, cost effective, change agent we want to hear from you. Solid experience working in a distribution and transportation environment is required. Position Summary
• Reporting to the President, this position is responsible to proactively seeking new and innovative distribution and transportation strategies to move the company to 'best in class'
• Achieving ‘best in class’ will be accomplished by continuously improving distribution operations including inbound and outbound transportation and traffic requirements, reduce costs, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer service
• This position supervises a distribution coordinator, distribution assistant and 15 drivers
• Responsible for fleet management

Requirements
• Extensive intermediate to senior level distribution management experience in a general merchandise environment Perishable experience would be an asset but is not required
• Experience with both inbound and outbound freight is required
• Experience with US and Western Canada distribution and transportation would be an asset
• Strong budget planning and control experience
• Hands on experience with developing, implementing and managing distribution and receiving
• Post secondary diploma or degree preferred
• Excellent proficiency in computer skills, specifically in MS Office and software systems supporting a wholesale/retail environment
• Excellent communication, organizational, negotiation and analytical skills
• Excellent leadership, interpersonal skills, multi-tasker, forward thinking-visionary, strong sense of urgency, follow-up, decision making and judgment skills
• Demonstrated success leading and motivating teams with the ability to develop and build strong relationships at all levels of the organization
• Work hours: normally Monday – Friday (6:30 -3:30) and must be available to work occasional additional hours based on the demands of work

Environment
• A professional but casual office
• 150, 000 sq. ft distribution centre and a smaller distribution centre with a wholesale cash and carry store
