| Produce Business Development Representative- Toronto As part of our Produce Sales Team, you will network daily with growers and shippers of fresh produce. This position is PHYSICALLY located in Mississauga. Sales Representatives are specialized by commodity; they source and market fresh fruits and vegetables directly from the grower and, in turn, sell and distribute to wholesale, retail and food service customers. The role is three-dimensional; it involves buying, selling and problem solving. Reporting to the branch manager the Business Development Representative will be responsible for selling C.H. Robinson's logistics services to customers in Canada and the U.S. with diverse transportation needs in accordance with agreed business plans. In this role, you will be responsible for growing the business primarily through generating sales leads, soliciting new accounts through face to face meetings and presentations, increasing the services provided on current accounts, and selling all of C.H. Robinson's services (including TL, LTL, Intermodal, and International). You will be in daily contact with customers of various sizes, building relationships, problem solving and assessing their needs. The responsibilities for this position include: -Plan and prioritize personal sales activities in order to achieve agreed upon business targets including sales and costs – manage personal time and productivity. - Compile lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads to follow up with through business directories, internet, trade shows, etc. - Solicit new business through cold calling, a minimum of 500 cold calls per month. -Explain the details of all C.H. Robinson's services including: truckload, less than truckload, intermodal, and international to potential customers. -Respond to and follow up sales enquiries using appropriate methods. - Manage pricing and margins according to agreed targets, providing rate quotes to customers for C.H. services. -Prepare sales contracts for new accounts. - Recommend changes to current customers regarding their transportation needs. -Schedule, attend and present at external customer meetings and internal meetings when necessary. -Provide weekly progress reports to management. -communicate internally and externally using appropriate methods to facilitate the development of profitable business and sustainable relationships. -Attend training courses offered by C.H. to develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills. The required qualifications for this position include: - Bachelors degree or equivalent industry experience. - Minimum of 3 to 5 years of transportation/logistics sales experience. - Prior success with customer and/or carrier growth. - Strong sales and relationship building skills. - Ability to effectively influence others. - Strong verbal and written communication skills. -Strong computer skills, using email and excel programs as main modes of communication with the ability to learn and use CHRW specific systems frequently. - Strategic and creative thinking skills.
