Description: The purpose of this role is to provide technical support in the area of Bulk Smelting and Copper Smelting. This role adds value by providing technical support to the Smelter Operating and Maintenance Superintendents in the development of Smelter operating and control strategies, the monitoring of the effectiveness of the strategies and resources to maintain and operate the Smelter assets. He/she recommends corrective actions based on monitoring the conditions that could adversely affect the performance of the equipment. This role also assists in the development of department work plans and schedules to comply with Research and Development priorities. As such, the work of this role is primarily cross-functional. This role contributes to the operational effectiveness of a major business unit by providing a range of process control solutions (from control loop design to system implementation and support). Work at this level requires in-depth knowledge of instrumentation & process control systems, and the financial requirements to make innovations viable. Incumbents of this role may also supervise other technical and professional staff, both within and outside of the organization. Position Requirements: • Process control systems design and implementation to include instrumentation to conventional Level 1 controller algorithms and interfacing to Level 2 supervisory control systems. • Provide design & documentation of control systems Educational/Experience Requirements: • BSc Engineering • 10 years experience or equivalent License/Professional Requirements: • P Eng preferred At Vale Inco, we are looking for candidates who meet a specific and unique skill set.
