Operations Coordinator

The primary role of the Logistics Coordinator is to handle all day-to-day operational elements of the contract. The incumbent seeks out the best methods to move the freight based on the customers’ requirements.

NOTE: This is for an afternoon shift i.e. 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
• Meet and exceed customer requirements at every stage of the order fulfillment process by assuming responsibility for total customer satisfaction.
• Analyze load information from the customer in order to determine and verify the appropriate routes, border crossing points and rates, and set up the daily schedules and inform the drivers of their runs, and enter the information in the Dispatch Operating System (DOS).

• Ensure the system contains complete and accurate details of the booking.
• Maintain contact with the customer throughout the duration of an order, communicating both positive and negative occurrences.
• Contact dependable drivers, and companies, in order to negotiate needed equipment, dispatch the load, update the required websites with finalized details, update the DOS and participate in problem solving as required.
• Build strong relationships with the Drivers assigned and share in the responsibility of the actions of the Drivers.
• Create daily logistics reports by maintaining the daily journal and sharing information with the other members of the contract.
• Create daily logistics reports for customers requiring them.
• Update the trailer tracking system.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Education and Industry / Technical Knowledge
• High School diploma. Degree / diploma in business / logistics is an asset.
• Experience / background in transportation / logistics is an asset.
• Minimum 2 years experience in a customer service role.
• Competent PC skills – Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel in order to create and maintain spreadsheets and reports.
• Strong administrative skills i.e. accurate, organized with the ability to multi-task.
• Team player. Ability to work effectively with others.

• Dedicated commitment to providing superior, timely internal and external customer service.
• Ability to work with and support the Operations Team and the Contract Manager to ensure the customers’ needs are met.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills in a team environment.
